Established in 1928 as a family estate, Philippe Girard took the reins in the early 2000s,
succeeding four generations of winegrowers. Our vineyards, situated in the village of Alaigne in
the Aude region, cover over thirty hectares. Philippe, a passionate independent winegrower,
cultivates a variety of grape types that showcase their unique personalities. This includes Syrah
and Pinot Noir for our distinctive wines, Chardonnay for our whites, and, of course, Cabernet
Franc, Merlot, and Malbec for our AOC Malepère.
Our terroir is something special. Nestled against the backdrop of the Pyrenees, our location
allows for a dance between maritime influences and the prevailing Mediterranean essence that
characterizes the entire Languedoc region. The clay-limestone soil and the altitude, which takes
the edge off the summer heat, create an ideal climate for the northern grape varieties thriving
here.
