When at the end of the 19th century my great-grandfather Pietro left his hometown of Rosciolo, in Italy, to venture into the conquest of a better future, he brought nothing more than determination and his passion for viticulture in his suitcases. And when he settled in Cafayate, land of vines and good sun, he forever marked the destiny
of those who today carry his blood.
Two of his sons, Andrés Benjamín and Pedro Moisés, following in his footsteps, with tenacity and hard work became references of their time when they took over the traditional winery “El Tránsito” in 1942. Successfully managed by them, the “El Tránsito” winery was home to Benjamín and saw some of his children born within its
walls, including my father, Benjamín Raul. At the end of 1952, following their innovative nature, Benjamín and Pedro decided to move the winery to new facilities.
Years later the old “El Tránsito” winery, wrapped in whispers of goblins, took the name of “Bodega Encantada” becoming forever the stage for the -Serenata a Cafayate-. Today it is also the site of the Wine Museum.
