Viña Korta, a premier winery of Basque origins, has been crafting red and white wines since 1997 in the Curico’s Valley (Lontue) in Chile. Vina Korta operates an area of approximately 400 acres divided in two vineyards; The first property lies in Santa Ana de Peteroa, in the Sagrada Familia region, a sub-valley known for its unique wine crafting due to its microclimate with high temperatures during the day and low in the night which with its thermal amplification, makes late maturity red wine such as Carmenere an accurate and authentic reflection of the land.
Vina Korta’s steadfast passion for the land is shown in its 40 acres of Syrah, 40 acres of Petit Verdot, 30 acres of Merlot, 20 acres of Cabernet Franc, 60 acres of Carmenere and 120 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon! As well as Malbec, Chilean Verdot (Grosse Merille), Lacryma Christi and Carignan. The wines crafted by Vina Korta estates is not limited to red wine; they also dedicate 8 acres of terroir to Viognier producing a full-bodied white wine with a lush, soft character with notes of notes of peach, pears, violets and minerality due to the warm climate of Chile’s Curico’s Valley.
The second vigneron is in the mountainous terroir of Curico, Chile, a colder area suitable for white wines where Vina Korta passionately plants 36 acres of Sauvignon Blanc in three different clones, as well as 3 clones of Chardonnay, Gray Sauvignon, Riesling, Roussanne, and Marsanne.
Vina Korta’s passion for value and quality has translated into producing highly approachable, wines all the way to elegant wines, all with a focus on value and delivering high quality to the consumer.
